(Hed) P.E.
Born in 1994 in Huntington Beach, Orange County, California, (Hed) P.E. coalesced around singer Jared Gomes and guitarist Wes Geer out of the local hardcore punk scene. The band fuses rapcore, nu metal, rap metal, punk rock, reggae and ska into a tense format of heavy riffs, hip‑hop rhythms and more melodic passages — a formula Jared Gomes dubbed “G‑punk.” After the EP Church of Realities, (Hed) P.E. released their self-titled debut Hed PE in 1997, followed by Broke (2000) and Blackout (2003) on Jive Records, before leaving the major and issuing Only in Amerika (2004), Back 2 Base X (2006), Insomnia (2007), New World Orphans (2009) and Truth Rising (2010). (Hed) P.E. also appeared on the American metal and alternative circuits, notably at Ozzfest in 2001, and continued with Evolution (2014), Forever! (2016), Stampede (2019), Class of 2020 (2020), Califas Worldwide (2022) and Detox (2023). Despite numerous lineup changes over the years, Jared Gomes remains the constant thread of (Hed) P.E., whose sound still bridges Californian punk, metal and hip‑hop culture.
