Adema
Originating from Bakersfield, California, Adema fits into the American rock and metal wave of the early 2000s, at the crossroads of nu metal, alternative metal, post‑grunge and melodic hard rock. Their sound relies on massive guitars, catchy choruses and a songwriting approach that is direct rather than showy, balancing rhythmic tension with accessible vocal lines. Formed in 2000 around Mark Chavez, Tim Fluckey, Mike Ransom, Dave DeRoo and Kris Kohls, Adema emerged on the Californian scene at a time when boundaries between metal and alternative rock dominated US stages. The band released Adema in 2001 and Unstable in 2003, then underwent several lineup changes that altered its identity without abandoning its core sound. Luke Caraccioli sang on Planets (2005), Bobby Reeves on Kill the Headlights (2007), after which the band took a break and later experienced various returns of Mark Chavez and Mike Ransom. Tim Fluckey handled vocals on the EP Topple the Giants (2013), and Ryan Shuck joined between 2019 and 2024, a period that saw the releases “Ready to Die”, “Violent Principles” and the EP The Cerberus (2023). Despite a history marked by personnel changes, Adema retains the core of Fluckey, DeRoo and Kohls, with Ransom back in the current lineup.
