Curtis Harding
Born in Saginaw, Michigan and based in Atlanta, Curtis Harding builds a world where soul mixes with the gospel of his childhood, rhythm and blues and touches of psychedelic rock. Initially active behind the scenes in Atlanta’s scene, Harding worked as a backing singer and songwriter alongside CeeLo Green before collaborating with members of Black Lips on the garage‑soul project Night Sun, an early site of hybrid experimentation. In 2014 he released his debut solo album, Soul Power, which laid the foundation for a direct style, carried by a warm voice and arrangements drawing as much from 1960s soul as from a more contemporary energy. Harding continued this approach on Face Your Fear (2017), which introduces more psychedelic textures and melancholic‑tinged ballads, and on If Words Were Flowers (2021), which deepens his soul roots while opening out to broader orchestrations. On stage, Curtis Harding performs with a band, adapting his songs to contexts ranging from intimate clubs to large festivals; his repertoire moves between gospel ballads, mid‑tempo tracks and more rock‑oriented numbers, placing him as a lasting presence in the renewal of contemporary American soul.
