Claud
Born in Highland Park, a suburb of Chicago, Claud Mintz has since the late 2010s developed a pop‑indie writing style that is intimate, melodic and slightly lo‑fi, often linked to bedroom pop. Claud began releasing under the name Toast with a first EP in 2018, before continuing under the name Claud and circulating tracks like 'Wish You Were Gay', followed by the Sideline Star EP in 2019 and Gay and Bored in 2020. Based in an aesthetic where bright guitars, flexible rhythms and direct singing intersect with a contemporary pop sensibility, Claud evolves this format into a broader production without leaving a personal, everyday tone. In 2020, Claud also participates in the Shelly project alongside Clairo, Josh Mehling and Noa Frances Getzug, further anchoring his/her career in an American indie scene connected between songwriting, alternative pop and friendly collaborations. The first artist signed to Saddest Factory, the label started by Phoebe Bridgers, Claud then released the album Super Monster in 2021, followed by Supermodels in 2023. Claud is also heard on 'To Be Yours' by Odesza in 2023, in a more electronic register that remains compatible with his/her sense of vocal line and pop textures.
