Tommy Lefroy

Based between London and North America in its career, Tommy Lefroy brings together Canadian singer Tessa Mouzourakis and American musician Wynter Bethel, two songwriter-performers who met in Nashville in 2017 before launching the project in 2018. The duo develops indie rock and indie folk songwriting with pop contours, centered on the alternation of two voices, direct choruses, and a strong narrative sense. After a period of collaborative work on songwriting, Tommy Lefroy began releasing singles in 2021 and released the EP Flight Risk in the same year. The track "The Cause" then drew wider attention as it circulated on TikTok, while the band refined an aesthetic of bright guitars, melodic tensions, and understated arrangements. In 2022, Tommy Lefroy joined Pheromone Recordings and released the single "Dog Eat Dog", followed by the EP Rivals in 2023. In the same year, the band was nominated at the Juno Awards in the Breakthrough category for a group; Tommy Lefroy sits within an anglophone indie scene nourished as much by North American songwriting as by a more contemporary approach to alternative pop.
