Baby Rose

Originally from Washington, D.C., and raised in Fayetteville, North Carolina, Baby Rose — born Jasmine Rose Wilson — works within contemporary R&B and soul, characterized by a deep, slightly veiled voice. Based in Atlanta, she began releasing her first songs in the mid-2010s in an introspective vein marked by slow tempos, spare arrangements, and songwriting focused on intimate relationships and vulnerability. A first EP, From Dusk ‘Til Dawn, appeared in 2017 and opened doors to a network of producers and writers on the alternative R&B scene. Her contribution to Dreamville’s collective project Revenge of the Dreamers III in 2019, alongside artists such as Ari Lennox, increased her exposure and coincided with the release of her debut full-length album, To Myself, the same year, which asserted an aesthetic blending 1960s–1970s soul with more contemporary textures. In 2023 the album Through and Through continued this exploration of melancholic R&B, built around expressive vocal parts and compositions centered on the voice-instrument dynamic, while the artist expanded her touring and festival appearances within independent soul and R&B circuits.
