Tiana Major9

Born in London in the Newham borough, Tiana Major9, the stage name of Tiana Thomas-Ambersley, sits at the crossroads of alternative R&B, neo-soul, jazz and reggae, with a supple vocal style nourished by gospel learned early in church within a Jamaican household. Discovered in 2014 among MOBO UnSung finalists, she began releasing her first tracks between 2017 and 2018, including Merry Go, Levee (Let It Break) and Mr. Mysterious, before a first EP, Rehearsal @ Nine, released in 2019. In the same year, Tiana Major9 appears on Stormzy’s Rainfall and signs Collide with EarthGang for the Queen & Slim soundtrack, a track that helps circulate her music beyond the British soul scene. Signed to Motown in 2019, she followed with the EP At Sixes and Sevens in 2020, then with several short formats such as Back at Sixes and Sevens, Major Mantras and Fool Me Once. Her repertoire blends contemporary R&B songwriting, soulful harmonies, jazz inflections and reggae touches without breaking from an intimate approach, often centered on voice, melody and pared-down arrangements. She is also seen alongside artists like Lucky Daye, Kojey Radical or Saint Harison, in a career that links current London soul to broader influences from Black music in Britain and America.
