Ruby Waters

Straddling indie rock, alternative pop, and touches of folk, Ruby Waters has, since the late 2010s, honed a guitar-centered writing style, a deep, husky voice, and a straightforward delivery. Originally from Ontario, Canada, and now based in Toronto, she first made her mark online with a run of self-released singles, later collected on the 2019 EP 'Almost Naked'. She followed in 2020 with 'If It Comes Down to It', a second EP that blends slow ballads, more rock-leaning atmospheres, and introspective writing that addresses relationships, disillusionment, and rough patches in plain, everyday language. On stage, Ruby Waters plays clubs and mid-sized venues in Canada and abroad, solo or with her band, adapting her songs to acoustic or more electric setups. Her songs combine simple riffs, pop structures, soul influences, and lightly R&B-tinged rhythms, with the voice kept front and center. Through a steady stream of singles and regular touring, Ruby Waters situates herself within a generation of indie singer-songwriters moving between digital platforms, opening slots, and contemporary music festivals.
