Fredz
Between Longueuil and Montreal, Fredz—real name Frédéric Carrier (born in 2002)—is developing a project that sits between rap, pop, and hip-hop, with vocals and intimate storytelling at its core. A self-taught guitarist since his teenage years, he began posting freestyles online around age 15, was spotted on social media by K. Maro, and was subsequently signed to the label East 47th Music. After a first EP, Dans ma tête, in 2019, he followed that same year with the mixtape Pas d’épines, Pas de rose, which established a style blending catchy melodies, personal narrative, and influences from French rap—from Nekfeu to Orelsan—with a nod to Quebec’s Koriass. In 2020, Fredz released his debut album, Personne ne touche le ciel, followed in 2022 by Astronaute, where images of the sky, celestial bodies, and inner journeys recur. Alongside studies in cultural and media production strategy at UQAM, he expanded his collaborations, notably with LauCarré, and took part in a Spotify Singles session in 2022. The album Demain il fera beau arrived in 2024, followed by On s’enverra des fleurs in 2025, as Fredz consolidated a live presence between Quebec and Europe with tours in France, Belgium, and Switzerland, and dates at venues such as Club Soda in Montreal, La Cigale, and then L’Olympia in Paris.
