Anitta

Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1993, Larissa de Macedo Machado, known as Anitta, emerged in the early 2010s on the Brazilian scene with a pop-oriented funk carioca propelled by viral videos and the single “Show das Poderosas.” Anitta then built her career around studio albums that increased her visibility beyond Brazil, with Anitta (2013), Ritmo Perfeito (2014) and Bang (2015), followed by a clear expansion into Latin and English-speaking markets with Kisses (2019) and Versions of Me (2022), before Funk Generation in 2024. Her repertoire blends funk carioca, mainstream pop, reggaeton, R&B and electronic music elements, consistently balancing baile funk rhythms with international radio formats. Anitta records in Portuguese, Spanish and English, which has enabled collaborations with artists from Latin pop, hip-hop and electronic music such as J Balvin, Major Lazer and Cardi B, and performances on Brazilian stages, international festivals and major tours across the Americas and Europe. Her trajectory illustrates the shift from an artist rooted in Rio’s urban contexts to a career built on regular releases, a strong visual approach in her videos and a strategy of transnational collaborations.
