Julien Granel

Rooted in a French trajectory between the southwest, Bordeaux, and extensive conservatory training, Julien Granel has, since the late 2010s, been crafting a very visual pop that mixes funk, disco, light electro and touches of French Touch, with a strong taste for direct melodies and arrangements drawn from British pop. After the singles “Défait” and “Danse encore” in 2019, he released the EP Bagarre Bagarre in 2020 and broadened his stage presence by opening for Angèle on around forty Zénith dates. His debut album Cooleur appeared in 2022; it features collaborations with Chromeo and Pedro Winter in a more expansive format where brass, strings and pop‑funk grooves widen his songwriting. Julien Granel also works on image and fashion projects, notably with Christian Louboutin and Jean‑Charles de Castelbajac, while retaining a danceable pop‑song format. More recently he teamed up with rapper‑singer Theophilus London on “BB DANSE”, a track that continues his interest in the intersections of futuristic disco, club music and chanson française.
