Sarah Davachi

Born in Calgary in 1987, Sarah Davachi has developed a practice between Canada and the United States that sits at the intersection of drone, minimalism, electroacoustic music and contemporary composition. Trained as a pianist and organist, she studied at the University of Calgary and Mills College and has also lived in Vancouver, Montréal and Los Angeles, where she pursued musicological research. Since her first releases beginning in 2013, her music has focused on extended durations, gradual variations of texture, harmonics and resonance, in pieces that combine acoustic instruments, organs, keyboards and electroacoustic processing. After Barons Court in 2015, she refined this language with Vergers (2016), All My Circles Run (2017), Gave in Rest (2018) and Pale Bloom (2019), followed by Cantus, Descant (2020), built around multiple pipe organs. Antiphonals was released in 2021, followed by Two Sisters (2022) and The Head as Form’d in the Crier’s Choir (2024). Her career also includes collaborations with Ariel Kalma, Sean McCann and Biliana Voutchkova, film scores, and a regular presence on experimental, ambient and contemporary scenes in North America and Europe.
