Sherelle

Based in London and originally from Walthamstow in the east of the English capital, SHERELLE has developed since the mid-2010s a trajectory rooted in fast electronic music at the intersection of footwork, jungle, breakbeat hardcore and a rave culture also informed by dancehall. She started out on radio — first on Reprezent and then with a BBC Radio 1 residency until 2021 — and gained wider recognition in 2019 after a Boiler Room set that marked a turning point in her visibility. Her mixes and DJ sets favour high tempos, often around 160 BPM, and draw on references from several decades of club music. Alongside her DJ work she co‑founded the Hooversound label with Naina and launched BEAUTIFUL, a platform dedicated to Black and queer artists. On the production side SherelleELLE released the EP 160 Down the A406 in 2021 and the DJ mix fabric presents Sherelle that same year, and she collaborated notably with Daniel Avery on Higher and Ultra Truth in 2022. Since 2023 she has also hosted a weekly show on BBC Radio 6 Music.
