Max Pezzali
Born in Pavia, Lombardy, in 1967, Max Pezzali first gained recognition in the early 1990s as the singer and principal songwriter of the duo-turned-band 883, which he founded with Mauro Repetto and which became associated with melodic Italian pop tinged with rock and references to youth culture. With 883, Pezzali released several studio albums — notably Hanno ucciso l’Uomo Ragno (1992), Nord sud ovest est (1993) and La donna il sogno & il grande incubo (1995) — that established an artistic universe of provincial stories, long-standing friendships and ordinary romantic relationships. From the early 2000s he pursued a solo career centered on Italian pop and pop-rock, releasing Il mondo insieme a te (2004), Time Out (2007), Terraferma (2011), Astronave Max (2015) and Qualcosa di nuovo (2020), alternating studio albums, compilations and live recordings. His writing remains marked by a direct, narrative register, accessible melodies and attention to everyday detail, while over the years he has multiplied collaborations and tours in Italy and made forays into book publishing and audiovisual media.
