Tshegue

Born in Paris from the meeting of Faty Sy Savanet, a singer born in Kinshasa who moved to France as a child, and Nicolas Dacunha, a musician and producer from the Paris suburbs, Tshegue was formed around a direct dialogue between voice, rhythm and stage tension. The name Tshegue—both Faty Sy Savanet’s childhood nickname and a term tied to Kinshasa’s street culture—sums up this double anchoring between Paris and the Congolese capital. The duo develops music at the crossroads of afropunk, garage rock and electronics, with polyrhythms inspired by Central Africa, repetitive motifs and a vocal approach that shifts from spoken word to screams. Supported early on by Bertrand Burgalat and the Tricatel label, Tshegue emerged in the late 2010s with the track “Muanapoto” and the EP Survivor. Over the course of their shows, Tshegue moves between rock venues, festivals and more club-oriented settings, without abandoning a tightly focused songwriting dominated by percussion, trance and short formats.
