Adam Green is a multidisciplinary artist, a songwriter, filmmaker, visual artist, and poet.
The New Yorker is a co-founder of the short‑lived anti‑folk band The Moldy Peaches (with Kimya Dawson), whose sole album appeared in 2001 on Rough Trade. Since 2002 he has released eleven solo albums, including Friends Of Mine, which recently celebrated its 20th anniversary, the soundtrack for Paul Auster’s stage piece Timbuktu, and a duo album with Binki Shapiro.
Furthermore, he is active as a visual artist; his paintings and sculptures have been exhibited in the Americas, Asia, and Europe, including in 2016 at the Fondation Beyeler in Basel.
He was the author and director of the first feature film shot entirely on an iPhone, The Wrong Ferarri (2010). In recent years Green has written a number of graphic novels and other books, including the poetry collection Magazine, translated by Thomas Meinecke for Suhrkamp.
Moping In Style: A Tribute to Adam Green was released on December 1, 2023, and features 25 cover versions of Green’s songs, including contributions from Regina Spektor, Father John Misty, Frankie Cosmos, Devendra Banhart, The Lemonheads, The Libertines, Jeffrey Lewis, The Lemon Twigs, and Sean Ono Lennon.
His EPs Falling Around and Houseface University appeared in 2025 on his own label Average Cabbage.
