Titiyo
Born in Stockholm in 1967 and raised in Solna, Titiyo has built her career in a pop-soul vein informed by R&B, while her songwriting has also touched on more electronic forms and club-oriented production. Coming from a musical environment shaped by Swedish and Sierra Leonean roots, she began to be heard on Stockholm’s scene in the late 1980s, signed a record deal in 1989 and recorded her debut album Titiyo, released in 1990. This early phase established a repertoire between contemporary soul, adult pop and danceable rhythms, continued with This Is Titiyo (1993) and Extended (1997). In the early 2000s she broadened her audience with Come Along (2001), an album that tightened her melodies and featured more direct pop production. Her subsequent path included A Collection of Songs (2004) and several collaborations—most notably with Kleerup on Longing for Lullabies (2008)—before Hidden the same year, where she developed a more atmospheric sound. In 2015, 13 Gården marked a turning point with songs recorded in Swedish tied to her personal story. She has continued to work through covers, guest appearances and stage projects, remaining a presence in the Swedish pop landscape up to Hemland in 2025.
