Tigercub

Formed in Brighton in 2011 around Jamie Stephen Hall and James Allix, and joined the following year by Jimi Wheelwright, Tigercub operates within a rock register that blends alternative rock, indie rock, grunge and sludge accents, with a marked taste for contrasts between rhythmic tension, thick guitars and more melodic passages. After a self-released first EP, Hands (2013), Tigercub drew attention on the British scene with a series of singles and the EP Repressed Semantics (2015), before touring notably with Royal Blood, Blood Red Shoes and Dilly Dally. The trio then refined their songwriting on Abstract Figures in the Dark (2016), produced by Alex Newport, and on the EP Evolve or Die (2017), where their formula became denser and more mobile. After a pause dedicated to other projects, Tigercub returned with As Blue as Indigo (2021), co-produced by Hall and Adrian Bushby and mixed by Tom Dalgety — a record that is more introspective in its themes while remaining rooted in heavy rock. With The Perfume of Decay (2023), Tigercub pushed an aesthetic that is tense, dark and direct even further, positioning itself both within the contemporary British rock scene and in a grunge and noise legacy.
