deary
Based in London, the duo deary brings together Ben and Dottie around a dream-pop writing style with shoegaze hues, where a soft vocal blends with hazy guitars over often slow tempos. Formed in the early 2020s, deary gained recognition with the single “Fairground” in 2023, released on the British label Sonic Cathedral, which quickly positioned them within a dreampop revival marked by dense guitar washes and deliberately vaporous production. That same year the band released a self-titled debut EP, “deary” (2023), which cemented an aesthetic of melancholic melodies, forward vocal lines and slightly lo-fi atmospheres, while retaining song structures close to indie pop. On stage, deary has supported acts such as Slowdive and Cranes, rooting them in a direct lineage with the British shoegaze scene and its dream-pop offshoots. In 2024, deary continued this path with the singles “The Moth” and “Selene”, exploring more nocturnal, cinematic climates—between slowed ballads, stretched reverbs and louder build-ups—and is preparing a first headline tour in the UK.
