The Delines

Formed in Portland, Oregon, in 2012, The Delines bring together singer Amy Boone and guitarist–songwriter Willy Vlautin, with Cory Gray on keyboards and trumpet, Sean Oldham on drums and Freddy Trujillo on bass. The project took shape after Boone toured with Richmond Fontaine, Vlautin’s other band, following her earlier work with The Damnations in Texas. The Delines write songs that sit between alternative country, country soul and Americana, focusing on characters and ordinary lives with a restrained, narrative approach, carried by a hushed vocal and arrangements for keyboards, brass and pedal steel. They released Colfax in 2014, Scenic Sessions in 2015, The Imperial in 2019 and The Sea Drift in 2022. Over the years they have toured North America, Europe and Australasia, performing in venues and at festivals. While the band’s trajectory remains closely tied to Willy Vlautin’s writing, The Delines’ identity also rests on Amy Boone’s interpretation and the collective balance of a repertoire where soul, country and orchestrated pop intersect without flourish.
