The Baboon Show
Formed in Stockholm in 2003, The Baboon Show belongs to a direct punk rock vein that mixes the energy of punk ’77, garage tension and power-pop hooks. Fronted by singer Cecilia Boström, the quartet first released the self-produced EP This Is It!! in 2004 before following up with the albums Don't Don't Don't (2005), Pep Talk (2006) and Betsy's Revenge (2007). With Punk Rock Harbour (2010), The Baboon Show significantly expanded its reach beyond Sweden, notably in Germany, and established a busy touring rhythm on the European punk scene. Subsequent releases confirm this continuity: People's Republic of The Baboon Show Formerly Known as Sweden (2013), Damnation (2014), The World Is Bigger Than You (2016), Radio Rebelde (2018) and God Bless You All (2023). In parallel, The Baboon Show released Havana Sessions in 2015, recorded with Cuban musicians after several stays on the island. The band develops short, nervous and melodic songs driven by a taut acoustic guitar, an uncompromising rhythm section and lyrics often focused on power relations, social issues and political critique. After several lineup changes, The Baboon Show today comprises Cecilia Boström, Niclas Svensson, Frida Ståhl (on bass since 2013) and Simon Dahlberg (guitar since 2023).
