Mobina Galore
Formed in Winnipeg in 2011, Mobina Galore brings together Jenna Priestner on vocals and guitar and Marcia Hanson on drums and vocals in a duo format that prioritizes efficiency and a front-on impact. The band moves between punk rock, power punk, and indie punk, with nervy, melodic, and direct songwriting, sometimes threaded with emo influences and references to 1990s skate punk. Mobina Galore began to make a name for itself on the Canadian scene through tours and a repertoire centered on live intensity. Their debut album Cities Away was released in 2014, followed by Feeling Disconnected in 2017, a sparser record that emphasizes the tension between guitar and drums. In 2019, Don’t Worry widens the duo’s palette slightly while preserving this mix of roughness and melodic clarity. After a forced hiatus from the road, Mobina Galore released the EP Waiting in 2021, then the live album Live from the Park Theatre in 2022, recorded in their hometown. The band has also shared the bill with Against Me!, Propagandhi, Pennywise, PUP, Petrol Girls, or Spanish Love Songs, placing Mobina Galore in an independent punk circuit where live energy remains central.
