The Haunted

Formed in Gothenburg in 1996 by musicians who had played in bands such as At the Gates and Satanic Slaughter, The Haunted sits within a Swedish line where thrash metal intersects with melodic death metal and a very dry hardcore tension. After the Demo ’97 demo, The Haunted released The Haunted in 1998, followed by Made Me Do It (2000), One Kill Wonder (2003) and rEVOLVEr (2004) — an initial sequence that established a fast, nervous and tightly wound sound. The band's history is also marked by the comings and goings of its two vocalists, Peter Dolving and Marco Aro, and lineup changes around the core of Patrik Jensen and Jonas Björler, with Anders Björler, Adrian Erlandsson and later Ola Englund at various times. Over the years The Haunted has slightly broadened its palette without abandoning an abrasive foundation, as evidenced by The Dead Eye (2006), Versus (2008), Unseen (2011), Exit Wounds (2014) and Strength in Numbers (2017). Active both on tour and at festivals, The Haunted remains associated with songwriting built on cutting riffs, high tempos and heavier, more massive passages.
