Show Me the Body

Formed in New York in 2009, Show Me the Body operates as a trio within a register that blends hardcore punk, noise rock, post-hardcore and touches of rap, with a prominent use of the banjo that alters the genre’s usual texture without distancing it from its confrontational tension. Emerging from the New York DIY scene, Show Me the Body first released Yellow Kidney and the EP SMTB in 2015, then Body War in 2016, their debut album that accompanied their tours across the United States and Europe. Meanwhile the group developed Corpus, a collective initiative born from their immediate milieu; the collaborative mixtape Corpus 1 was released in 2017 and extended their ties with artists from hardcore, noise and experimental scenes. That same year they also issued the EP Challenge Coin, before broadening their approach with Dog Whistle in 2019, an album denser in its rhythmic contrasts and urban atmospheres. With Trouble the Water in 2022, Show Me the Body pursued this trajectory further by tightening their writing—between dry violence, spoken word and heavier passages—while remaining anchored in a New York underground culture linking music, collective action and social space.
