Set It Off

Formed in Tampa, Florida, in 2008, Set It Off initially grew around Cody Carson, later joined by Zach DeWall and then drummer Maxx Danziger, before stabilizing as a trio. The band emerged in the early 2010s thanks to Carson’s early YouTube videos and a string of self-released EPs, before signing with Equal Vision. Set It Off’s sound springs from a pop-punk and pop-rock base, with a strong taste for melodic choruses, theatrical arrangements and an emo tension, but it gradually broadened into wider alternative rock, incorporated hip-hop and rap-rock elements, and more recently moved toward a heavier, alternative-metal-adjacent songwriting. Their studio discography includes Cinematics (2012), Duality (2014), Upside Down (2016), Midnight (2019) and Elsewhere (2022). The band also circulated its songs through the Warped Tour scene and the international alternative-rock circuit, touring with acts like Yellowcard, Tonight Alive, Simple Plan and One OK Rock and appearing at festivals such as Download and Rock am Ring. Over time, Set It Off has maintained a clear formula—alternating pop energy, rock tension and upfront choruses—while evolving its formats and textures from record to record.
