Scott Helman
Born in Toronto, Scott Helman developed early on a pop songwriting style anchored in the song format, mixing indie pop, light folk and accessible rock, carried by a flexible voice and direct choruses. Active since the mid-2010s, Helman first drew attention with the EPs Songs for Friends and Augusta, both released in 2014, before continuing with Spotify Sessions in 2016 and his first album Hôtel de Ville in 2017. His repertoire rests on clean production, present guitars and autobiographical writing that remains close to North American alternative pop. Over the years, Helman has toured with Tegan and Sara, Shawn Mendes, Walk Off the Earth, Vance Joy and Dean Lewis, which has established him on pop and singer-songwriter stages in Canada, the United States and Europe. He followed with the Hang Ups EP in 2018 and the album Nonsuch Park (SA) in 2020, where his approach becomes more introspective while not abandoning an immediate melodic framework. In parallel with his solo releases, Helman has multiplied collaborations and filmed covers, notably in his The Hotel Sessions series, and has pursued an increasingly independent path with the Augusta 10 EP in 2024.
