Sanne Salomonsen

Born in Frederiksberg, Denmark, in 1955, Sanne Salomonsen established herself from the late 1960s as an early, promising singer before turning to rock and pop. In the early 1980s she became the voice of the Danish band Sneakers, a pop‑rock group that gave her strong national visibility and consolidated a style combining rock energy, accessible melodies and touches of soul. At the same time she developed a solo career, beginning with a self‑titled debut album in 1973, and from the 1980s released rock‑ and pop‑oriented records in both Danish and English, including “Precious Moments” (1984) and “Language of the Heart” (1993). Her repertoire alternates between piano‑and‑voice ballads and more electric tracks, driven by a raspy tone and an expressive delivery, often centered on intimate and relational themes. Highly active on stage, she regularly fills concert halls and Scandinavian festivals and collaborates with musicians from pop, rock and Nordic soul. She has also worked as an actress in film, television and musical theatre, extending her presence in Danish popular culture beyond the discography.
