Sam Amidon

Born in 1981 into a family of folk musicians, Sam Amidon turned early to singing, banjo and fiddle before joining the neo‑old‑time group Popcorn Behavior in the 1990s. Later based between New York and London, Amidon evolved his approach by blending folk with jazz influences, improvisation and indie songwriting, often in a spare setting where the voice occupies a central role. His discography is built around albums such as Solo Fiddle (2001), But This Chicken Proved Falsehearted (2007), All Is Well (2008), I See The Sign (2010), Bright Sunny South (2013), Lily‑O (2014), The Following Mountain (2017) and Sam Amidon (2020), released notably within the Bedroom Community collective and on Nonesuch Records. On stage, Sam Amidon performs both in venues dedicated to folk and at festivals of experimental music and contemporary creation, regularly collaborating with instrumentalists from jazz, contemporary music and indie pop, anchoring his work in a continual dialogue between tradition and reinterpretation.
