Darlingside

Formed in Boston in 2009 by musicians met at Williams College, Darlingside has since its beginnings evolved between indie folk, Americana and chamber folk-pop, with a strong focus on vocal harmonies and acoustic arrangements. Initially conceived as a wider group, the project stabilized around Don Mitchell, Auyon Mukharji, Harris Paseltiner and David Senft, before continuing on the scene with other additions from 2022, Senft remaining involved in writing and recording. Darlingside drew attention during the early 2010s US tours, with a first EP, EP 1 in 2010, then the album Pilot Machines in 2012. After the departure of Sam Kapala, the quartet refined a tighter formula, nourished by strings, guitar, banjo, bass and a collective vocal that sometimes brings their songs close to bluegrass in form, without directly belonging to that genre. Birds Say was released in 2015, followed by the EP Whippoorwill in 2016, then the albums Extralife in 2018 and Everything is Alive in 2023. Darlingside also published Woodstock with Heather Maloney in 2014, as well as Look Up & Fly Away in 2019, Instrumentals Vol. 1 and Fish Pond Fish in 2020.
