Ondubground

Based in Tours, Ondubground has developed since the mid-2000s a French dub sound nourished by roots reggae, British bass music and electronic music. The project, led by the brothers Olo and Art‑X, formed independently and has operated between homemade productions, sound system culture and performances on dub stages across France and Europe. Ondubground’s musical language rests on deep basslines, echoes and skanks inherited from Jamaican dub, while also drawing on tighter rhythms from dubstep, jungle and other electronic forms. This combination produces a hybrid format, both tuned for live performance and conceived with studio detail in mind. Linked with the ODG Prod structure, Ondubground has over the years built a path rooted in alternative networks, evolving its aesthetic toward a broader dub where instrumental tracks, vocals, digital textures and reggae motifs coexist. Ondubground thus remains tied to a French dub scene that engages both with roots heritage and contemporary low‑frequency music forms.
