Big Red
Emerging from the Paris scene of the early 1990s, Big Red first established himself as the lead voice of the raggamuffin duo Raggasonic alongside Daddy Mory, at the crossroads of reggae, dancehall and French‑language hip‑hop. Fueled by the energy of sound systems and Parisian squats, he developed a rhythmic, chanted style—often in Jamaican patois blended with French—whose songs range from social commentary and urban chronicles to more introspective narratives. After Raggasonic’s high‑profile exposure, Big Red embarked on a solo path from the late 1990s, recording extensively and making guest appearances with producers and rappers from the rap, reggae and bass music scenes, while occasionally reuniting with Daddy Mory on stage. His discography alternates between tracks crafted for live performance, more melodic numbers and forays into electronic rhythms, without breaking with the sound system heritage. In concert, Big Red moves between clubs, festivals and stages devoted to urban music, maintaining a continual connection with multiple generations of reggae and hip‑hop audiences.
