Nik West

Born in Phoenix, Arizona, Nik West has built since the early 2010s a career focused on bass, vocals and songwriting, at the intersection of funk, rock, soul and R&B. She first attracted attention through videos shared online—both original compositions and covers—before establishing onstage a bass-led formula featuring prominent bass lines, a pronounced sense of groove and an energy drawn as much from funk as from rock. A multi-instrumentalist and frontwoman, Nik West develops a repertoire where riffs, syncopated rhythms and soulful melodies coexist with a strong visual aesthetic. Over the course of her career she has collaborated with or shared the stage with artists such as Prince and Quincy Jones, while continuing to pursue her own projects. Her place in the contemporary funk scene has been built as much through live performance as through solo releases, with an approach that favors direct formats, bass-forward mixes and a blend of vintage references and current production.
