Electro Deluxe
Formed in France at the end of 2001, Electro Deluxe grew around a core of musicians led by saxophonist Thomas Faure, with an identity positioned between soul, funk, jazz and hip‑hop — far from a purely electronic aesthetic despite the name. The group, now organized as a septet with James Copley on vocals, favors a sectional sound, prominent brass, tight rhythms and a strong live presence, where improvisation and collective energy play a central role. Electro Deluxe released Stardown in 2005, Hopeful in 2007 and Play in 2010 — three records still rooted in electro‑jazz nourished by groove and club culture. With Home in 2013 and Circle in 2016 they accentuated their soul‑funk side and foregrounded the singing, a direction continued on Apollo (2019) and NEXT (2024). The band’s career also includes several live projects, notably Live in Paris (2012), recorded with a big band at the Alhambra, and Circle Live (2018). Appearing both at jazz festivals and on more soul- and funk-oriented stages, Electro Deluxe has developed over the years a hybrid format that sits between orchestral precision and concert flexibility.
