Pierpoljak
Born in Paris in 1964, Pierpoljak established himself from the mid-1990s on the French reggae scene after an early period in suburban punk bands and a stay in London that oriented him toward Jamaican culture. His music is based on a blend of roots reggae, ragga and French chanson, with melodic refrains, pronounced bass lines and frequent use of Jamaican patois, in a style both urban and strongly influenced by Kingston. The first studio albums, released in the late 1990s and partly recorded in Jamaica with local musicians, set a style made up of chronicles of daily life, travel narratives and spiritual themes. After a period of intense live activity and several tours in France and Europe, his trajectory was punctuated by pauses, notably linked to health problems and long stays abroad, before a regular return to recording during the 2000s and 2010s. Pierpoljak most often performs with a band, on club stages, contemporary music venues and reggae festivals, maintaining a francophone anchor while remaining oriented toward Jamaica.
