Ryon

Based in Tours, Ryon has been developing a French-language sound since the mid-2010s that blends roots reggae, chanson, pop and touches of dub in a band format designed for both stage and record. Ryon emerged with the album Rêver in 2016 and followed with Zéphyr in 2018, where the ensemble refined a balance between straightforward melodies, a reggae pulse and broader arrangements. With Esperanza in 2020, extended by Esperanza (Deluxe) in 2021, Ryon moved toward a cleaner, more contemporary sonic approach while preserving the offbeats, supple bass lines and lyric-centered approach that shape its identity. This trajectory continues with Rayonne in 2024. On stage, Ryon operates within French reggae and contemporary music networks, with a repertoire that relies on singing, harmonies and steady rhythms rather than on showy effects. Within the francophone reggae scene, Ryon stands at the intersection of melodic reggae, accessible songwriting and a sensibility close to chanson.
