Philip Sayce

Born in Aberystwyth, Wales, in 1976 and raised in Toronto, Philip Sayce trained very early on the city’s club scene, where he played as a teenager before carving out a niche between blues rock, classic rock and hard rock with psychedelic overtones. A guitarist, singer and songwriter, Sayce develops a playing style marked by electric blues and a highly expressive approach, with songs built around taut riffs, extended solos and a husky voice. His career took an early turn when he joined the Jeff Healey Band in 1997 for several years of touring, and then continued in the United States after he settled in Los Angeles, where he collaborates notably with Uncle Kracker and Melissa Etheridge, on stage as in the studio. Parallel to this accompanying work, Sayce pursued a solo path begun discographically with the Philip Sayce Group in 1997, then continued with Peace Machine in 2005, Silver Wheel of Stars in 2007, Innerevolution in 2010, Ruby Electric in 2011, Steamroller in 2012, Influence in 2014, Scorched Earth: Volume 1 in 2016 and Spirit Rising in 2020. He also appears on festival stages and international tours, across North America, Europe and Japan, in a continuum where blues rock remains the core of his repertoire.
