Aynsley Lister

Born in Leicester, England, in 1976, Aynsley Lister belongs to a British blues-rock tradition that blends electric blues, rock and roll and singer-songwriter craft, with a guitar style shaped early on by Freddie King, John Mayall and Eric Clapton. After beginning to play live as a teenager, he formed his own band in the late 1990s and recorded Messin' With the Kid in 1996 and Pay Attention! in 1997, before signing with Ruf Records. His album Aynsley Lister was released in 1999, followed by Everything I Need (2000) and All or Nothing (2002), in which classic blues structures opened up to rockier rhythms and contemporary production. Over the years Lister has developed a repertoire increasingly centered on his own compositions, notably Upside Down (2007), Equilibrium (2009), Home (2013), Eyes Wide Open (2016) and Along for the Ride (2022). His trajectory also includes the Blues Caravan project, shared with Ian Parker and Erja Lyytinen on the album Pilgrimage (2006). A regular on European tours, Aynsley Lister performs both as a trio and with an expanded lineup, in a stage format where guitar, voice and sense of groove remain central.
