Paul Woolford

Born in Leeds in 1976, Paul Woolford has forged since the early 2000s a career rooted in British dance music, navigating between house, techno and the more breakbeat‑oriented sides of club electronic music under his own name, as Bobby Peru or as Special Request. Influenced by the local Back to Basics scene, he became a resident there before taking, from 2008, a residency at the We Love parties at Space Ibiza, alongside guest DJ appearances on international circuits. Woolford has built a discography that moves between club‑focused tracks, rave textures and nods to English bass music; a track like "Erotic Discourse" became a hallmark of his early years. Under the Bobby Peru identity he released the album The Truth in 2008. Over time, he has also steered his writing toward more vocal and open formats, notably with "Looking for Me" (2020) alongside Diplo and Kareen Lomax, then "Heat" (2021) with Amber Mark, "Teardrops" (2022) with MK and Majid Jordan, and "Fever" (2023) with Alison Goldfrapp. He also runs the label Intimacy.
