Mau y Ricky

Based between Miami and Latin America, the Venezuelan duo Mau y Ricky brings together brothers Mauricio and Ricardo Montaner, who come from a family of musicians and are active in Spanish-language urban pop. Initially working as songwriters for other Latin American artists, Mau y Ricky drew attention in the mid-2010s with a series of reggaeton and urban pop singles that blend pop melodies, rhythms close to Latin trap, and choruses sung in harmonies. Their first cohesive project, the EP “Arte” released in 2017, established this mix of melodic reggaeton, pop ballads and touches of R&B in Spanish, followed by the album “Para Aventuras y Curiosidades” in 2019 and “rifresh” in 2020, which continued this approach with songwriting focused on relationships and everyday life. At the same time, Mau y Ricky expanded their collaborations with singers and rappers from the Latino urban scene while continuing to write for other performers, anchoring the duo in a network of intersections between pop, reggaeton and contemporary Latin song, both on record and on stage across Latin America, the United States and Spain.
