Matt Bianco

Born in the United Kingdom in 1983, Matt Bianco takes shape around Mark Reilly, Danny White and Basia Trzetrzelewska, initially joined by Kito Poncioni after their orbit around Blue Rondo à la Turk. The project develops a blend of sophisti-pop, jazz-funk and Latin-tinged pop, with flexible arrangements, danceable rhythms and songwriting marked by the light soul of the 1980s. Matt Bianco first drew attention with the 1984 album Whose Side Are You On?, then changed its lineup after Basia and Danny White left. Around Reilly, the arrival of Mark Fisher steers Matt Bianco toward a more contemporary sound, audible on Matt Bianco in 1986 and Indigo in 1988, a period when the group moved between sophisticated pop, club jazz and tropical influences. Over the 1990s, Matt Bianco continued with Samba in Your Casa (1991), Another Time Another Place (1993), World Go Round (1997) and Rico (2000), while maintaining a regular presence in Europe and Japan. The original lineup briefly re-formed for Matt’s Mood in 2004, before a new re-centering around Mark Reilly. Since Mark Fisher’s passing in 2016, Matt Bianco has continued under Reilly’s leadership, notably with The Things You Love in 2016 in collaboration with New Cool Collective, Gravity in 2017, High Anxiety in 2020 and Masquerader in 2025.
