Nasty
Formed in the early 2000s between La Calamine in Belgium and western Germany, Nasty developed a frontal beatdown hardcore sound, fueled by modern metal with punk and hip‑hop touches. The band is part of the European wave of brutal hardcore that was taking shape around independent labels and club tours, with blunt lyrics addressing everyday violence, social rejection and gang mentality. After an initial demo, Nasty released Declaring War in 2006 and Aggression in 2008—two albums that established a style of heavy tempos, pronounced grooves and guttural, non‑melodic vocals. Give a Shit (2010) and Love (2013) amplified the repetitive, massive side of the compositions, using short formats designed for the stage. With Shokka in 2015 and Realigion in 2017, Nasty slightly broadened its range by adding more rhythmic variation while remaining centered on riff and breakdown. The band then joined Century Media for Menace in 2020, released amid more regular international touring, and followed up with Heartbreak Criminals in 2023, which tightened writing around simple, direct structures. Active on hardcore and metal festival circuits as well as in small venues, Nasty remains identified with a very physical live approach where the collective dimension of hardcore matters more than individual personalities.
