Ms. Dynamite
Born in Crawley, West Sussex and raised in Kentish Town in north London, Naomi McLean‑Daley performs as Ms. Dynamite in a musical trajectory that sits between rap, R&B, soul and UK garage, with reggae and dancehall inflections and lyrics often addressing social realities. Ms. Dynamite first attracted attention in the early 2000s on the London scene through her contribution to Sticky’s underground track “Booo!”, widely played on pirate radio, following a stint at RAW FM. Signed to Polydor and notably supported by producer Salaam Remi, Ms. Dynamite released A Little Deeper in 2002 and Judgement Days in 2005. The debut album, driven in part by “It Takes More” and “Dy‑Na‑Mi‑Tee”, blends singing and rap in an aesthetic that links British hip‑hop, garage and R&B; it was awarded the Mercury Prize the same year. After this initial period, Ms. Dynamite spaced out her solo releases but remained active through collaborations with Katy B, Magnetic Man, DJ Fresh, David Guetta, Showtek and CLIPZ, extending her presence across Britain’s pop, bass music and electronic scenes.
