R De Rumba

Active since the 1990s in Zaragoza, R de Rumba has established himself in Spanish rap as the DJ and producer of Violadores del Verso, the group he formed with Kase.O, Lírico and Sho-Hai, which played a major role in the rise of hip‑hop on the peninsula. His trajectory unfolds both behind the turntables and in the studio, focusing on hip‑hop productions nourished by funk, soul and other forms of Black music, characterized by a restrained, rhythmic aesthetic with a strong attachment to groove. Outside Violadores del Verso, R de Rumba has developed projects more directly linked to funk, notably Funk Experience with musician Carlos Porcel, highlighting a more instrumental side of his work. His production activity has also led him to collaborate with other figures in Spanish rap, including Kami from CPV. Situated between DJ culture, beatmaking and a lasting rooting in the Zaragoza scene, R de Rumba occupies a singular place in the history of Spanish hip‑hop.
