Markus Schulz

Born in Eschwege, Germany, in 1975 and long based in Miami, Markus Schulz has worked since the 1990s in a style between trance, progressive trance and club electronic music, with a marked taste for dark atmospheres, slow buildups and extended formats. After his beginnings on the American scene and a residency of several years in Scottsdale, Markus Schulz built an international career as a DJ and producer while developing an editorial identity through his show Global DJ Broadcast and his label Coldharbour Recordings. His discography under his own name includes Without You Near (2005), Progression (2007), Do You Dream? (2010), Scream (2012), Watch the World (2016), Escape (2020) and The Rabbit Hole Circus (2023). Under the alias Dakota, he explored a more atmospheric and narrative vein with Thoughts Become Things (2009), Thoughts Become Things II (2011), The Nine Skies (2017) and Odyssey to the Netherworld (2022). Markus Schulz has also produced numerous remixes for artists such as Madonna, Jewel, Fatboy Slim, Télépopmusik and Hans Zimmer, and co-led the New World Punx project with Ferry Corsten.
