Marian Hill

Trained in Philadelphia, Marian Hill brings together singer Samantha Gongol and producer Jeremy Lloyd around electronic pop with synth-pop contours and alternative R&B, built on minimalist rhythms, clean bass lines and a pronounced use of space. The duo emerged in the early 2010s with the EP Play in 2013, then refined this concise and nocturnal writing on Sway in 2015, where notably "One Time" appears. Marian Hill then gained wider notice with "Down", a track released in 2016 and picked up the same year on the first album Act One, released in 2016, before an enriched version, Act One (The Complete Collection), published in 2017. Their music rests on the contrast between the flexible and measured voice of Samantha Gongol and Jeremy Lloyd's production, which blends pop, R&B and electronic textures in a deliberately pared-down format. Marian Hill continues this trajectory with Unusual in 2018, then the EP Was It Not in 2020, released independently. The duo has also developed remix work and occasional collaborations, while circulating between American pop, electronic and alternative scenes.
