Langhorne Slim

Born in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, Sean Scolnick adopted the moniker Langhorne Slim early on and made his mark on the North American folk scene by blending acoustic songwriting, rock energy, and country inflections. After a spell in New York, Langhorne Slim came to prominence in the mid-2000s with the album When the Sun’s Gone Down (2005), driven by forthright guitar work and a distinctively textured voice, then solidified his path with the self-titled Langhorne Slim (2008), recorded with his band The War Eagles. Be Set Free (2009) ushered in a more melodic, introspective writing style, before The Way We Move (2012) amplified the rhythmic drive and live presence of his folk rock. With The Spirit Moves (2015) and then Lost At Last Vol. 1 (2017), Langhorne Slim turned toward sparser arrangements dominated by ballads, vocal harmonies, and lyrics focused on emotional fragility and the pursuit of sobriety. Composed during a period of retreat, Strawberry Mansion (2021) gathers a series of short, stripped-down pieces in which Langhorne Slim explores anxiety, memory, and everyday life through contemporary folk rooted in the American tradition.
