Mad Rey

Active on the Paris scene since the mid‑2010s, Mad Rey has established himself as a producer and DJ at the crossroads of house, deep house, and hip‑hop and jazz influences. Discovered through the D.KO Records label, Mad Rey released a run of maxi singles that cemented his place in the French club landscape, notably the EP “Quartier Sex” in 2015 and “Balabushka” in 2016, where his direct drum patterns, hypnotic bass lines, and a pronounced use of vocal sampling and soul fragments were already taking shape. Mad Rey’s productions move between dancefloor‑ready cuts and slower tracks, often built on piano loops or warm pads, with a taste for long forms and gradual builds. Behind the decks, he extends this cut‑and‑paste approach by blending American house, contemporary offshoots of the French scene, and more breakbeat‑leaning excursions. A regular presence in Paris clubs and on European stages, he is also developing the Red Lebanese project, which lets him explore a wider range of tempos and atmospheres while remaining rooted in a sample‑based electronic aesthetic.
