Madball
Madball was born in New York in the late 1980s in the wake of Agnostic Front, taking shape around Freddy Cricien, who first appeared on stage as a very young guest before becoming the project's vocalist. Madball is part of the New York hardcore scene, delivering dense and direct hardcore punk marked by compact tempos, metallic riffs, heavy breakdowns and lyrics rooted in street life, loyalty and collective endurance. After the EPs Ball of Destruction (1989) and Droppin’ Many Suckers (1992), Madball released Set It Off in 1994, followed by Demonstrating My Style (1996), Look My Way (1998) and Hold It Down (2000) — records that accompanied the band's expansion well beyond New York. Briefly disbanded in 2001, Madball resumed activity in 2002 and went on to release Legacy (2005), Infiltrate the System (2007), Empire (2010), Hardcore Lives (2014) and For the Cause (2018). Through lineup changes, Freddy Cricien has remained the band's constant, while they continue to play hardcore clubs, undertake international tours and appear at festivals across Europe, the United States, Japan and South America. Today Madball includes, notably, Freddy Cricien, Mike Justian, Mike Gurnari and Brendan Porray.
