Agnostic Front
Born in New York's Lower East Side in the early 1980s around guitarist Vinnie Stigma and soon propelled by vocalist Roger Miret, Agnostic Front has its place in New York hardcore history with a direct, short, and confrontational sound rooted in punk, Oi! and, at times, thrash metal. After the United Blood EP in 1983, the band established this aesthetic on Victim in Pain (1984), before broadening its palette with Cause for Alarm (1986), where hardcore speed increasingly mingled with metal riffs, followed by Liberty and Justice For... (1987) and One Voice (1992). Closely linked to the CBGB scene and other New York hardcore bands, Agnostic Front went through several lineup changes and a hiatus in the 1990s, then returned with Something’s Gotta Give (1998), Riot, Riot, Upstart (1999) and Dead Yuppies (2001). The band then continued to navigate between loyalty to street hardcore and a heavier, more expansive songwriting approach on Another Voice (2004), Warriors (2007), My Life My Way (2011), The American Dream Died (2015), Get Loud! (2019) and Echoes in Eternity (2025). Still built around the Miret–Stigma duo, Agnostic Front continues to alternate international tours and recordings, with a body of work marked by themes of unity, urban life and social tensions.
