Luciano

Based between Switzerland and Chile, Luciano, whose real name is Lucien Nicolet (born 1978 in Montreux), developed in the 1990s a sound at the crossroads of minimal techno, micro-house and Latin American grooves. As a teenager in Santiago de Chile he moved from the local rock scene to early Detroit productions and helped shape the city’s electronic scene alongside artists such as Dandy Jack, performing in clubs and at large open-air events. Returning to Europe in the late 1990s, he joined the minimal circuit between Berlin and Zurich with releases on Perlon, Peacefrog, M_nus, Playhouse and Transmat and regular DJ sets at Club der Visionaere and Panorama Bar. His debut album, “Blind Behaviour”, was released in 2004, followed by “Tribute To The Sun” in 2009 on his own label, where his hypnotic textures, long progressions and rhythms inspired by Latin American music became prominent. In 2003 Luciano founded Cadenza Records and later the sublabel Cadenza Lab, releasing his productions and those of a generation of producers associated with tech house and minimal. Long established on Ibiza, he held residencies at Cocoon, Circoloco and Pacha with the Vagabundos concept before launching further collaborations on the island, while continuing to tour regularly across Europe, the Americas and Asia. A multiple recipient of DJ Awards, he was notably named Icon of Ibiza in 2024, affirming Luciano’s enduring role in the underground electronic scene.
